Yüzüklerin Efendisi Diyarı

2004
Tolkien fan website

I’ve been a huge fan of Tolkien since middle school. I didn’t like reading books until I came across The Fellowship of the Ring in 2000, but then I was hooked. Took me three attempts to “understand” The Silmarillion’s Ainulindalë. I took pride in telling rather obscure facts about Middle-earth to my friends. My friends were nice.

At one point, I wanted to share my passion and knowledge with more people. Thus a website was born. As you might imagine, as an early 2000s website, it was a bunch of table elements on GeoCities, designed on Photoshop 7.

The site included a mini-encyclopedia, articles on Tolkien’s life, Elvish lessons, poems from the books, galleries, as well as reviews and strategy guides for The Return of the King and The Hobbit video games. See the archive.

Trivia: I “owned” the yuzuklerin.efendisi.com subdomain (basically lord.oftherings.com) at the time, which was previously iframe-ing the official movies’ website. How? I just sent an email asking if I could use it, and they said OK.
